NinjaOne serves IT units in 35,000 businesses. Its platform includes endpoint control, monitoring, security, backup, and service operations. NinjaOne has market-leading performance on patch management and RMM.

Each section explains our experience with NinjaOne and its performance:

Control layer (Devices)

1. Endpoint management

Endpoint management tools help IT teams control, monitor, and update all devices (Windows, macOS, Linux) from one system. They reduce manual work by automating patching, software deployment, inventory tracking, and troubleshooting.

NinjaOne is a unified endpoint management platform that provides remote monitoring and management, file sharing, mobile device management, and automated patch management capabilities.

2. Mobile device management (MDM)

MDM software manages smartphones and tablets in organizations. It allows policy control, security enforcement, app management, and device tracking for mobile fleets.

NinjaOne supports MDM for Android, IOS, Windows, and Apple devices with fast enrollment and policy-based controls. It enables zero-touch deployment for mobile devices and screen sharing.

3. Device control

Device control tools manage what external devices (USBs, storage, peripherals) can connect to endpoints. They are used to prevent data leaks and enforce security policies.

NinjaOne supports endpoint security by enabling centralized control over devices, applications, and system settings. Its features include SIEM integration, device inventory tracking, and remote and temporary access. The unified platform enables users to adapt device policies based on physical location.

Operations layer

4. Remote monitoring and management (RMM)

Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) software enables monitoring, management, and security of devices across networks from a central platform. It helps IT teams automate tasks such as patching, troubleshooting, and performance tracking.

AIMultiple benchmark on RMM tools:

We compare leading RMM tools by testing deployment, monitoring, and overall usability in real environments. Specifically, the top three tools, NinjaOne, ManageEngine, and Acronis, were tested across multiple servers and regions to measure setup speed and performance.

NinjaOne (NinjaOne RMM) is the strongest performer in the benchmark:

  • It has the fastest agent deployment, completing installation in under 2 seconds with no manual steps required.
  • It also starts monitoring automatically after setup, without extra configuration.
  • NinjaOne delivers smooth onboarding, faster deployment, and more immediate device visibility.

5. Remote control

Remote control software allows IT teams to access and manage devices from a distance. It is used for troubleshooting, support, and system maintenance without being physically present.

AIMultiple benchmark on remote control software:

We test the top 3 remote control tools based on user interface, connection quality, setup process, and in-session features. NinjaOne offers a remote management experience featuring quick-start sessions, non-disruptive background access via MFA, and comprehensive oversight through automated activity logging and session recording. In the file transfer test, NinjeOne is the fastest in most regions.

6. Network monitoring

Network monitoring tools track the health and performance of network devices such as routers, servers, and Windows systems. They help IT teams spot problems early, monitor traffic, and keep systems stable.

NinjaOne combines network monitoring and remote management into a single platform. It provides automated device mapping and NetFlow traffic analysis, although it is not presented as the most advanced specialist tool for deep network monitoring.

Service layer

7. IT Service Management

ITSM tools help manage IT services like ticketing, incident resolution, asset tracking, and workflows. Modern ITSM platforms focus on automation, faster support, and integration with IT operations tools.

NinjaOne combines endpoint management with service workflows and automation. It provides autonomous resolution and sentiment analysis. NinjeOne is useful for managed service providers that need remote support and fast incident resolution from a single platform.

8. AI help desk

AI help desk tools use automation and AI to handle IT tickets, resolve common issues, and assist support teams. They aim to reduce manual support workload and speed up response times.

NinjaOne combines automation and real-time endpoint data. Its integrated approach helps IT teams resolve user issues without switching between multiple tools. The platform’s features include automated ticket routing and creation, response templates, and event- or time-based automation.

Security layer

9. Patch management

Patch management software is used to find, test, and install software updates across systems. It helps IT teams fix security issues and keep devices up to date with less manual work. NinjaOne introduced Patch Intelligence AI in January 2026 for AI-driven automation in patch management.1

AIMultiple benchmark on patch management software:

The benchmark compares leading tools by testing patch detection, deployment, and management features in real environments. NinjaOne, Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, and ManageEngine Desktop Central were installed on identical servers to measure their performance.

NinjaOne stands out for very fast agent deployment and efficient patch automation, but in our benchmark, it failed to detect available patches on the tested server and offers less granular restart scheduling than some competitors.

10. Vulnerability scanning

Vulnerability scanning tools detect security weaknesses in systems, such as missing patches or outdated software. They help organizations reduce cyber risks.

NinjaOne approaches vulnerability scanning by correlating continuous endpoint telemetry with external CVE/CVSS intelligence, enabling real-time vulnerability identification and direct mapping to automated patch workflows across OS and third-party applications without relying on scheduled scans. Its agent-based, cloud-first design integrates monitoring, remote access, and patching in a single dashboard, allowing risk-based remediation across distributed endpoints without scan windows or VPN-dependent infrastructure.

11. Endpoint Security

Endpoint security tools protect devices from threats like malware, ransomware, and unauthorized access. They combine patching, monitoring, and policy enforcement.

NinjaOne strengthens endpoint security by combining patch management, backup, and real-time monitoring in one system. Its unified design reduces security gaps and helps teams respond quickly to threats.

Resilience layer (Data recovery)

12. Backup

Backup management tools protect data from loss caused by accidental deletion, system failure, ransomware, or sync errors. They help organizations restore emails, files, and other critical data across both cloud apps and local systems.

AIMultiple benchmark on Backup solutions:

Our benchmark compares backup tools across factors such as setup, backup speed, restore time, search, and usability. In these tests, NinjaOne‘s setup process requires explicit account activation after auto-discovery, and supports granular, service-level backups (email, Drive, calendar, contacts, tasks) with clear separation of backup states.

Its integration with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 is built through direct authentication and Marketplace installation, enabling broad data coverage while maintaining audit logs, retention policies, and role-based restore, download, and migration options. Advanced features like cross-platform migration, fast organization-wide search across mailboxes, and unified recovery workflows distinguish it as an operationally integrated backup layer rather than a standalone backup tool.

13. E-mail archiving

NinjaOne supports email archiving for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace through immutable journaling, policy-based retention controls, and audit logging, combined with cross-mailbox search, tagging, and legal hold capabilities, enabling compliance, eDiscovery, and data recovery within the same platform.

NinjaOne integrates SaaS Backup into its unified RMM platform, allowing centralized backup management for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other email systems with flexible storage options (NinjaOne cloud or third-party) and region-based compliance controls.

14. Disaster recovery

NinjaOne supports disaster recovery through policy-based backups (file/folder and full-image) with flexible storage targets and retention settings. It provides bare-metal or VM restores and isolated test recovery to validate RTOs without affecting production. It integrates automation, patching, and software deployment to rebuild systems after a restore.

Knowledge layer

15. IT documentation

IT documentation software is used to store and organize technical knowledge about IT systems. This includes device details, configurations, processes, credentials, and troubleshooting steps. It helps IT teams avoid tribal knowledge, where a few people know key systems.

AIMultiple benchmark on documentation software:

Our benchmark compares IT documentation tools based on real tasks, including document creation, search accuracy, relationship mapping between IT assets, and integration with other IT systems. NinjaOne stands out for having a detailed IT dashboard and tight integration with RMM, patching, and endpoint management in a single platform.
