Oxylabs and Bright Data are two of the largest proxy providers used for large-scale web scraping and automation. To better understand how these providers perform, we conducted benchmark tests comparing success rates and response times across three proxy types:
- Bright Data performs better in unblocker success rates and response speed
- Oxylabs performs significantly better in mobile proxy reliability
- Residential proxies show similar performance across providers
Success rate benchmarks
Residential proxy success rate
Residential proxies showed similar success rates between Oxylabs and Bright Data, with both providers fluctuating between the mid-50% and low-70% range during the testing period.
Across most days, the two providers tracked closely together. For example, performance remained clustered around 60–68% for most of the testing window
Overall, residential proxy reliability was comparable between the two providers, with no sustained advantage for either platform.
Mobile proxy success rate
Mobile proxies showed the largest performance difference in the benchmarks.
Oxylabs maintained consistently high success rates throughout the testing period, generally ranging between 90% and 98%.
In contrast, Bright Data’s mobile proxy success rates fluctuated more widely, typically ranging from 66% to 85%.
These results suggest that Oxylabs currently provides more reliable mobile proxy infrastructure in high-volume scraping scenarios.
Unblocker success rate
Bright Data maintained substantially higher success rates throughout the benchmark period, generally ranging between 68% and 78%.
Oxylabs’ unblocker success rates were lower, typically remaining between 40% and 50%.
This indicates Bright Data currently performs better at bypassing anti-bot protections using unblocker infrastructure.
Response time benchmarks
Mobile proxy response time
Bright Data consistently delivered faster mobile proxy responses. During the testing period:
- Bright Data response times typically ranged between ~1.1 and 1.5 seconds
- Oxylabs mobile proxies generally ranged between ~1.6 and 2.3 seconds
Although Oxylabs still maintained acceptable performance levels, Bright Data provided more consistently faster responses.
Residential proxy response time
Residential proxy response times were more similar between the providers, though Bright Data still showed a slight speed advantage.
Across the test period:
- Bright Data generally ranged between ~2.1 and 2.6 seconds
- Oxylabs ranged between ~2.4 and 3.2 seconds
However, the differences were relatively small compared to the mobile proxy benchmarks.
Unblocker response time
Unblocker requests showed the largest response times overall due to the additional processing required to bypass anti-bot systems.
During the benchmark period:
- Bright Data averaged roughly 10–12 seconds
- Oxylabs averaged roughly 7–9 seconds
Despite Bright Data achieving higher unblocker success rates, Oxylabs sometimes delivered slightly faster unblocker responses.
Bright Data vs Oxylabs: Which one should you choose?
Bright Data strengths
- Higher unblocker success rates: Bright Data consistently outperformed Oxylabs when using unblocker infrastructure, maintaining success rates roughly 25–35 percentage points higher.
- Faster response times: Across most proxy types, Bright Data delivered lower average response times, particularly for mobile proxies.
- Stable residential performance: Residential proxy success rates remained relatively consistent throughout the testing period.
Oxylabs strengths
- Stronger mobile proxy success rates: Oxylabs maintained 90–98% mobile proxy success rates, substantially outperforming Bright Data’s 66–85% range.
- More stable mobile infrastructure: Mobile proxy success rates remained consistently high across the entire testing period.
- Residential proxy reliability: Residential proxy success rates between the two providers remained very similar overall.
