The Best Twitter (X) Proxies: Benchmark & Providers

We test proxies on x.com every 15 minutes from 4 continents, across residential, datacenter, mobile and web unblocker products. At our request rate, datacenter proxies often matched or beat residential proxies on success rate and were faster.

Web unblockers had the most consistent success rates, but their response times differed widely between providers.

Response time

Each provider sends about 24 requests a day to x.com, so 1 failed request changes that day’s success rate by about 4% points. A single drop from 100% does not mean much, the trend over many days is more useful.

A provider that returns to 100% after a drop is different from one that stays low for many days. The same applies to response time: look at a provider’s usual range, not its best or worst day. See the benchmark methodology for details.

Choosing the right Twitter proxy type

Datacenter proxies

Datacenter IPs are often thought to be the first type a social platform blocks. At our request rate, they were among the most reliable options for public x.com pages. Their success rates were often equal to or higher than residential providers’, and they were faster. This supports using datacenter proxies for low-rate data collection. It does not show how they perform at higher volumes, where blocking is more likely.

Residential proxies

Residential proxies are often recommended for X, but they had the widest range of results in our data. Results differed between providers and from day to day for the same provider. Some providers had stable success rates and response times.

Others alternated between days with no failures and days with several, and their median response time sometimes changed by 1 second or more. If you use residential proxies, add retry logic and compare providers on how stable their results are.

Mobile proxies

Mobile IPs are expected to be the hardest for X to block, but results differed a lot by provider. The best mobile provider had some of the highest results in the benchmark, while others had lower results than most residential providers. Mobile response times were similar to residential. Mobile proxies cost more, but they are not faster, and their reliability depends on the provider.

Web unblockers

Web unblockers had the most consistent success rates in the benchmark. The main difference between them was response time. An unblocker’s response time can rise sharply while its success rate stays the same, for example if the provider adds more processing on its side.

The page is still delivered, but each request takes longer, so you can collect fewer pages per hour. When comparing unblockers, check both the response time and success rate charts.

Best Twitter proxy sites of 2026

Bright Data offers residential and ISP proxies that work with scraping tools to access X.

ISP proxies use dedicated static IPs, while residential proxies use a shared pool. City, ASN and ZIP code targeting is available for rotating residential proxies but not for ISP proxies. The ISP pool is smaller than the residential pool, so it handles fewer simultaneous requests.

Bright Data rotates IPs on each request by default. You can rotate IPs manually through the Proxy Manager or with your own code.

Decodo offers residential, datacenter, mobile and web unblocker products. It is the only provider we test on x.com in all 4 proxy types, so its results appear in every chart view. Its residential proxies use a shared IP pool, with ZIP code targeting in the US.

Webshare offers rotating and static residential proxies. Static proxies come in 3 forms: dedicated (used only by you), private (shared with 1 other user) and shared (used by many users). Webshare’s residential and datacenter proxies are included in our x.com benchmark.

DataImpulse offers rotating residential proxies over HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, with UDP on request. Its premium residential plan costs about 2 times the standard plan and offers faster speeds and extra features. All residential plans include ZIP code targeting at no extra cost.

NodeMaven offers residential and mobile proxies on a single plan, plus static ISP proxies. Targeting is available by region, city and ISP, and IPs can rotate on every request or stay the same for up to 7 days. On x.com, its residential and mobile success rates were among the lowest in their categories.

Byteful offers rotating residential, mobile, static residential ISP and dedicated datacenter proxies from one dashboard. Region, city and ISP targeting is included at no extra cost, and all products support HTTP(S) and SOCKS5.

ProxyEmpire offers rotating residential, static residential (ISP), mobile and datacenter proxies over HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5. Targeting is available by region, city and ISP, and mobile proxies can be filtered by carrier. IPs rotate per request, at timed intervals or in sticky sessions of up to 30 minutes. On x.com, its residential success rate varied widely from day to day.

Zyte offers a web unblocking API. You send a URL, and Zyte chooses the proxy type: it starts with datacenter IPs and switches to residential IPs when the site requires it. Pricing is per request, not per GB. On x.com, it had high success rates and steady response times.

Free vs. paid Twitter proxies

Most free proxies are shared by many users and often flagged. Logging into an account through a flagged IP can lead to verification prompts or a locked account. Free proxies tend to be slow and drop connections often, which makes them unreliable for scraping or automation.

Paid providers manage their IP pools, and many offer low-cost starter plans or pay-as-you-go residential bandwidth.

Twitter proxy benchmark methodology

Every 15 minutes, a batch of requests is sent from 1 of 4 servers in France, the United States, Singapore and Brazil. Each provider receives around 720 requests a month on x.com. All providers receive the same URL at the same time, so no provider gets an easier page or a quieter hour. Sending requests from 4 continents keeps results from depending on a single network’s routing.

We use a pool of close to 2,000 real pages on the site. Each request goes to a different URL, so no provider benefits from a cached response. Requests to twitter.com are measured in our Germany and Korea benchmarks and are not part of this benchmark.

A request counts as a success when the response contains the requested page. Reaching the site is not enough. Proxies often return HTTP 200 with a CAPTCHA, a login page or an empty page, so we check the page for content that appears on real X pages and not on block pages. A real 404 counts as a success, because the proxy reached the site and the page no longer exists. All requests are plain HTTP requests, sent the same way for every provider.

We report 2 figures:

  • Success rate: the share of requests that returned real content.
  • Response time: the time from sending the request to the proxy until the last byte arrives. Successful requests are counted.

We use the median instead of the average, so a few very slow requests do not distort a provider’s result.

Some data is excluded on purpose:

  • Inactive accounts: Sometimes a provider’s account stops serving traffic for reasons unrelated to proxy quality, and its requests never reach the site. Scoring this as zero would measure the account, not the proxies, so we drop those days. We drop days when fewer than 70% of requests reached the site.
  • Contractual blocks: If a provider’s contract does not allow it to serve a site, we leave it off that site’s page. No provider is blocked from x.com.
  • Days with too little data: A day needs at least 20 requests for a success rate and at least 10 successful requests for a response time. Days below these limits are left out.

FAQs

Datacenter, residential, static residential (ISP) and mobile proxies all work on X. Web unblockers can be used when proxies are blocked. In our benchmark, datacenter proxies performed well for low-rate collection of public pages. Residential and mobile results differed more by provider, and web unblockers had the most consistent success rates.

It depends on how the proxy is used and on the applicable law. Accessing public data through a proxy may be allowed in some cases, but access controls, privacy rules, website terms and other laws can affect this. To lower the risk of account restrictions, use a fixed, clean IP for each account and avoid sudden increases in activity.
