Instagram restricts and flags accounts that automate access to or scrape Instagram data at scale. 1 Managing multiple Instagram accounts or running Instagram automation safely often requires a reliable proxy provider.
We evaluated the top Instagram proxy providers for reliability and geographic coverage:
Pricing of the best Instagram proxy services
The table below summarizes the top Instagram proxy providers by price per GB, monthly cost, traffic limits, and free-trial options.

Best Instagram proxies: Residential & mobile IPs
Bright Data proxies enable users to target by region (global, country, state, city), ASN, ZIP code, coordinates, and operating system.
By default, both residential and 4G/5G mobile proxies rotate with each request. However, you can customize rotation frequency using Bright Data’s Proxy Manager. The service also offers both shared and dedicated IP options for residential and mobile proxies.
Bright Data matches first deposits up to $500.
Visit WebsiteDecodo offers affordable residential proxies with global coverage across multiple countries. Unlike Bright Data, Decodo offers more flexible proxy plans and a wider range of IP options, including small packages tailored for individual users. The service also includes mobile IP addresses sourced from real users’ devices worldwide.
ZIP code-level targeting for residential proxies is available in the United States. Decodo’s rotating mobile IPs comprises 10 million IP addresses, enabling targeting by country, state, city, ASN, and operating system.
Webshare offers a large selection of 30 million static (shared, dedicated, rotating) and rotating residential proxies. However, it does not provide mobile IPs.
Webshare offers both private and dedicated residential proxies. Private proxies are shared among up to 2 users, while dedicated proxies are assigned exclusively to a single user. Its residential proxies offer city-level targeting.
DataImpulse provides flexible rotation and advanced targeting options. You can configure IPs to rotate with each connection request or set a custom rotation interval via the proxy management API. Targeting is highly granular, supporting selection at the ZIP code level.
The provider offers rotating mobile IPs in over 50 countries, while its residential proxies span 150 countries, supporting targeting at the state, city, ZIP code, and ASN levels. All proxy usage follows a pay-as-you-go pricing model, with no monthly commitments or traffic expiration.
NetNut offers rotating and static residential IP addresses for various use cases, including social media management, social media scraping, and brand protection. NetNut’s residential proxy server can rotate with every connection request.
The mobile proxy pool comprises 5 million IPs with country- and ASN-level targeting options.
PrivateProxy.me offers an Instagram script that uses residential proxies to assist users with web scraping and data parsing.
It automates Instagram tasks, including data scraping from the target website, and supports residential proxies.
IPBurger offers over 5 million rotating residential proxies, ideal for Instagram automation and account management. The provider also features sticky residential IPs that last up to 30 minutes. You can target proxies by country, state, and city location for more precise control.
Free Instagram proxies
Free Instagram proxies are public IPs listed on open proxy sites. They’re shared by many users at once, which makes them slow, short-lived, and often flagged or banned by Instagram, so they fail on real account work. They’re acceptable for location testing or checking geo-restricted content. If you want to test with them, see our list of free proxy services and free SOCKS5 proxies.
Free trials are a better starting point than public lists. Several providers offer trials or money-back windows, so you can test paid infrastructure before committing.
Choosing a proxy type: scraping vs. account management
Low-volume scraping
For small-scale Instagram scraping, such as testing or scraping a few pages, use datacenter proxy servers. They’re affordable and fast, though Instagram may flag them during extended sessions. Scraping 10 pages without issues is feasible with datacenter proxies, but for larger-scale usage, these proxies may get blocked.
When datacenter proxies start failing, you can switch to residential proxies. Instagram proxy servers can still trigger security systems if fingerprints remain constant. To avoid having to re-enter CAPTCHA, combine your proxy setup with an anti-detect browser.
Managing multiple Instagram accounts
Instagram flags rapid or automated actions as spam, including creating multiple accounts within a short period.
Instagram allowed us to fill out all the required information. It provided us with a verification number when we attempted to register a second account, even though we had a primary account.
However, once we entered the code, the platform said we were in violation of its terms of service and refused to create an account. There are two possible approaches to dealing with this problem:
- Using a proxy server: Proxies automate basic activities on social media platforms for users, such as creating multiple accounts on various platforms. They conceal your real IP address to avoid the platform’s limitations. The platform identifies users using additional unique information, including browser settings, cookies, and JavaScript-related data.
- Antidetect Browsers: Antidetect browsers can change the fingerprint settings. This technique did not solve our problem either, as the IP address was reported for questionable activity. You can use proxy servers in conjunction with anti-detect browsers:
- Integrate your proxy: Ensure the anti-detect browser allows external proxy integration.
- Built-in proxy: Opt for an anti-detect browser that features built-in proxy services. Most anti-detect browser providers don’t offer high-performance proxy solutions. For instance, datacenter proxies may not be suitable for Instagram’s anti-bot detection systems.

Legal and ethical use of Instagram proxies
While proxies themselves are completely legal tools, the way they’re used can cross into violations of Instagram’s Terms of Service or local privacy laws.
Instagram’s Terms of Service
Instagram’s ToS clearly prohibit:
- Automated data collection outside of its official API.
- Using bots, scripts, or automation tools to perform repetitive actions.
- Creating fake accounts or misrepresenting identities.
Avoid the following activities:
- Scraping or storing private profile information.
- Automating mass follows, comments, or DMs.
- Buying/selling Instagram accounts through proxies.
- Circumventing regional bans or restrictions using deceptive identities.
FAQs
To use a proxy for Instagram, enter your proxy IP, port, and credentials in your browser or automation tool’s proxy settings. Always test the connection and match the proxy geo to the account region.
Mobile proxies are best for bots like Socinator or Jarvee because they use real carrier IPs that Instagram trusts.
Residential proxies offer a balance between cost and reliability, while datacenter proxies are better for testing or low-risk scraping.
A dedicated proxy for Instagram is a private IP address assigned to a single user or account. They’re commonly used to manage business or client Instagram accounts and to run automation tools.
