Best France Proxy Providers: Benchmark & Pricing

We benchmark the top France residential proxy providers, measuring success rate and average response time against real websites.

The providers that complete the most requests are not always the fastest. Our benchmark runs continuously and is updated with daily results, providing a clearer view of performance over time than a one-off proxy test.

The chart above is updated as new benchmark data becomes available. Each daily result represents repeated tests conducted throughout the day rather than a single test run. See benchmark methodology for details.

Success rate and response time should be read together. A low response time is less useful if a large share of requests are blocked or return unusable content, while a provider with a higher response time may still deliver more usable requests overall.

Day-to-day movement also matters. Residential proxy networks are dynamic: available IPs change, routes change, IP reputation changes, and individual target sites adjust their blocking systems.

France proxy providers to evaluate

Bright Data gives you more control over where a French residential IP comes from than most providers in this comparison. Residential proxies can be targeted by country, city, ZIP code, carrier, and ASN, so you can go beyond FR and request a more specific French location or network. The residential product supports both rotating and sticky sessions, HTTP(S) and SOCKS5, and unlimited concurrent sessions.

Bright Data makes the most sense when France-only routing is not precise enough, and you need to control the location or network associated with the IP address.

Oxylabs provides one of the more granular configurations for France in this group. A residential connection can be set to France with cc-FR, then narrowed using city, ZIP/postal code, coordinates, or ASN targeting. Its residential network also supports IPv4/IPv6 selection, OS filters, and rotating and sticky sessions. HTTP(S), HTTP/3, and SOCKS5 are supported.

Webshare separates proxies into three products with different billing models: Proxy Servers, Static Residential proxies, and Rotating Residential proxies. For the benchmark here, the relevant product is Rotating Residential, which is charged by bandwidth rather than by IP.

For France, rotating residential proxies support country + city targeting. The limitations become important when you need finer control: state and ZIP targeting are currently US-only, and ASN targeting cannot be combined with a country filter.

Country targeting for France is included in the base residential price. State, city, ZIP, and ASN targeting are also available, but those filters are billed at 2× the standard residential rate.

You can switch between rotating sessions and sticky sessions depending on the workload. Sticky duration is adjustable from 1 to 120 minutes, and rotating mode assigns a new address for each request. Residential proxies support HTTP(S) and SOCKS5.

NodeMaven offers residential, mobile, and static ISP proxies in France. On its residential network, you can narrow French traffic beyond country level to regions, cities, ZIP codes, and ISPs. Its France-specific network includes locations such as Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, Strasbourg, Montpellier, and Bordeaux, so it is usable for workloads where a generic French exit is not specific enough.

NodeMaven’s French ISP proxies are static, dedicated IPs with unlimited traffic, but the ISP product is currently in beta and supports country-level targeting. City, ISP, and ZIP filters apply to its residential/mobile products, not to the static ISP product.

Apify Proxy is part of a broader scraping and automation platform. It can be accessed externally through a standard proxy endpoint, but it is particularly convenient for workloads already running on Apify, where proxy traffic, compute, and storage can be managed under the same platform.

French residential targeting is relatively simple: set the residential group and use country-FR, or country code: ‘FR’ through the SDK. For France, that is effectively where the geographic targeting stops. Apify currently supports sub-country targeting for US states, so it cannot be configured for Paris, a French ZIP code, or a particular French ISP or ASN.

Residential sessions persist for roughly 30 minutes when you reuse the same session ID. Without a session ID, HTTP requests rotate through available IPs. Apify Proxy uses the HTTP proxy protocol rather than offering a SOCKS5 endpoint.

How to choose a France proxy provider

Test success rate against your actual targets

Vendor success-rate claims are difficult to compare because providers may use different websites, request volumes, locations, testing environments, retry behavior, and definitions of a successful request.

For example, a company monitoring French ecommerce sites should test providers against representative ecommerce targets rather than relying on a generic network-wide success rate. Our benchmark follows the same principle by testing proxies against real pages on real websites rather than against a synthetic endpoint.

Evaluate latency together with reliability

Response time should not be evaluated independently from success rate. Average and median latency can be useful, but production testing should also consider p95 response time, timeout rates, retry rates, and the number of successful requests completed per minute.

A provider that responds slightly more slowly but completes substantially more requests may deliver more usable data over the same period.

Verify geographic targeting options

Country-level targeting may be sufficient if traffic needs to originate somewhere in France. More location-sensitive use cases may require targeting at the city, ZIP, ASN, or ISP level.

This matters for applications such as ad verification, search engine monitoring, localized ecommerce research where results can vary depending on the location and network of the proxy IP.

France proxy benchmark methodology

We send real HTTP requests through each proxy provider to real pages and then inspect the response to determine whether the requested content was actually reached. A connection is not considered successful simply because the proxy returned an HTTP response; the response must represent genuine content from the target website rather than a CAPTCHA, a block page, a proxy error, or another unusable response.

Requests are sent from four servers located in:

  • Europe
  • United States
  • Singapore
  • Brazil

Server location can affect how a proxy provider routes traffic, so each server runs the same tests independently.

Each server starts a new test cycle every 20 minutes. The 4 servers are staggered, so a new batch of benchmark requests is sent approximately every 5 minutes across the system.

Target URLs

The benchmark uses real URLs collected from the websites being tested, including:

  • product pages;
  • listings;
  • profiles;
  • search results; and
  • other real content pages.

For the France Residential benchmark, target sites include:

  • Amazon France
  • eBay France
  • Instagram
  • X
  • Facebook
  • TikTok

How we define a successful request

A request counts as successful when either of the following conditions is met:

  1. The server returns HTTP 404.
  2. The server returns an HTTP 200–399 response, and the response body contains a known content marker for that domain.

We count a genuine 404 response as successful because it shows that the proxy successfully reached the target website and received the site’s real response; the requested page simply no longer exists.

For HTTP 200–399 responses, status code alone is not sufficient. We also check the body for a known marker associated with the target website. This helps distinguish a real page from responses such as CAPTCHAs, blocked pages, proxy errors, or other intermediary content that may still return a superficially successful HTTP status code.

How results are reported

Benchmark requests are collected continuously and aggregated daily. As new days of testing are completed, new daily results are added to the benchmark. The charts therefore represent a continuously updated performance history rather than a fixed test conducted on a particular set of dates.

This is important when interpreting the results. Proxy performance can change over time because of IP availability, routing, target-site defenses, and other network conditions. The benchmark is intended to show both current performance and consistency over time.

Success rate is calculated as:successful requests / total requests × 100

Average response time is reported alongside success rate so that reliability and speed can be evaluated together.

These results describe performance against the targets, locations, and testing methodology above. They are useful for comparing providers under consistent conditions, but they do not guarantee identical performance for every website.
